Report from the First Annual Iberian Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine & Biomedical Technologies, May 2008
The First Annual Iberian Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine & Biomedical Technologies, which took place in May 2008 in Estoril, Portugal, was welcomingly received by nearly 1,000 scientific and medical delegates and industry leaders.
The scientific program included presentations from famous scientists and researchers such as: Prof. Pitanguy (world-renowned plastic surgeon), Prof. Montagnier (the virologist responsible for the discovery of the Aids virus), Dr. Colgan (a famous researcher in the area nutrition and brain decline), and Prof. Alfonso Cruz Jentoff (president of the European Geriatric Society).
The opening ceremony was presided by dignitaries including the Portuguese Health Commissioner, the Mayor of the City of Cascais, a representative of the Portuguese Medical Association (Bastonario da Ordem dos Medicos), the President of the National Association of Pharmacies, the Chair and the President of the World Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, The President of SEMAL (Spanish Anti Aging Society), the President of the Portuguese Anti Aging Society, and the President of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society.
Sixty-five corporate booths were featured on the Exhibition Floor. Bayer, Johnson & Johnson. GenoSolutions, and many other industry leaders found an engaging opportunity to network with the Conference delegates.
The First Annual Iberian Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine & Biomedical Technologies received much positive media coverage, including 26 press articles (in magazines such as Visao, Expresso, Publico, Correio da Manha, Revista Publica, etc), mention in 33 Internet site articles, and featured in 10 television segments.
